Lois Thomson-Bowersock offers Experiential Therapy in her private counseling practice. She also facilitates and intensive Experiential Therapy program, "Journey to Freedom".

What is Experiential Therapy?

The key word in Experiential Therapy is "experience". This method has proven effective in helping people overcome unresolved issues. It helps to bring what is in the unconscious mind into the conscious mind through the use of music, art, objects, nature, experience, drama and creative expression. Lois Thomson-Bowersock has been acknowledged nationally by the American Society of Experiential Therapists - ASET. Her work has impacted thousands of individuals by promoting recovery and healthy lifestyles.

One of the ways that Lois explains Experiential Therapy is to use the example of flying an airplane.

"If I told you I had just finished studying a pilots' manual, but I had never flown an airplane, would you sit in the passenger seat beside me? I have never had anyone answer "yes" to this hypothetical question. However, if I said I have studied a pilots' manual, have spent thousands of hours in an aircraft simulator, and I am going to be flying as a student with an experienced pilot, would you consider joining me on my maiden flight? Obviously, the initial flight into the unknown is still going to be a challenge; however, having had the experience of the simulator helps to eliminate much of the unknown. It adequately prepares us for the journey. Experiential Therapy is the simulator for your life journey."

Experiential Therapy
