Kim graduated from Texas A&M University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, and then earned her Master’s degree from Sam Houston State University in the field of Counseling. She is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (TX #67440) under the supervision of Dr. Van Wiesner, LPC-S, LPC, CCMHC, NCC. As an LPC-Intern, Kim has the capability and credentials to see clients, both individually and in groups, just as a licensed counselor does; it just simply means that as she completes her first three thousand hours in practice she must be under the supervision of a qualified Licensed Professional Counseling Supervisor.
Kim graduated at the top of her class in her master’s program, and has partaken in various positions within the mental health field, although her qualifications excel beyond her education and credentials. In 1999, Kim began her own pathway of recovery from an eating disorder and love addiction, and has ever since believed her calling and purpose to be helping others find their way to healing and wholeness mentally, physically, and spiritually. Having been in the same “shoes” as many of her clients, Kim is able to empathize with their struggles, as well as offer valuable insight and helpful tools to guide others down the path of living to their full potential.
Kim specializes in treating eating disorders, chemical dependency, relationship dysfunction, and compulsive disorders. By integrating various counseling techniques and philosophies, Kim offers her clients the most current and effective methods of treatment. She also makes it a priority to attend continuing education courses in various areas of counseling in order to further develop her counseling aptitude and in turn offer her clients the most comprehensive counseling possible.
Kim is married and enjoys spending much of her time reading, loving her two dogs, and grabbing coffee with friends.
